Truck freight - nothing easier than

No question for us today is to convey something, there are different options. Depending on what, how much, how much and how heavy the goods or commodities, different possibilities are available. A move from A to B can often be done in-house with a van. Size technically this is not enough, choose a truck up to 7,5 t. Bigger is of course - it drive different trucks around on our streets and highways, to bring the goods to their destination.

Truck freight - how it all began
The history of German goods transport by lorry (truck) started at the beginning of the 20th Century. The invention of the truck can safely count the pioneers of this time, there were
• Gottlieb Daimler, born in 1834, built in 1886 in a Cannstadt 1872, developed under his leadership and of Nikolaus Otto, four-stroke engine into a carriage, and thus is considered the inventor of the motor car. On 1 October 1896 gave DMG (Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft) from the first truck in the world.
• Carl Benz, born in 1844, founded in 1883, Benz & Cie.. Rheinische Gasmotorenfabrik Mannheim '. He was also engaged in the development and production of motorized vehicles for transportation. Already in 1895 he built a motor coach and led in 1900 before his first truck.
• Heinrich Büssing, born in 1843, founded in 1903 in Braunschweig, Heinrich-Büssing-special factory for motor cars and motor buses'. The company produced trucks and buses. In 1908 he founded the world's first transport company in Berlin.
Merged in 1926, founded by Karl Benz, Benz & Cie.. Rheinische Gasmotorenfabrik Mannheim 'and founded by Gottlieb Daimler, Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft'. Since the date of this compound is known as Daimler-Benz AG ', which is still known and highly regarded worldwide. Not only is the truck division, but also in cars, in the upper price segment, the Daimler-Benz AG 'world built over the years a good name and convinces by quality.
In the years 1900-1908 there was no direct provisions for trucks. The vehicles were produced by the then requirements and possibilities of the manufacturer. The measurements were in the early stages
• Truck length up to 6 meters
• trucks width 2 meters
• 3.5 tons of payload
• Total weight of 6.5 tons

Trucks - giants of the road
A lorry (truck) or lorry (LW) is often called in slang vices, one of the trucks. There is a motor vehicle with rigid frame and, in contrast to the tractor pulling a trailer. It is used for commercial purposes mainly for the transportation of goods and merchandise. In English is called the truck, commercial vehicle 'or' commercial truck '. It is not intended for the transport of persons. The abbreviation truck has been in our language so fixed that hardly anyone of trucks in, long 'version speaks.

Classification of trucks in Germany
The classification is based on the gross vehicle weight (GVW) or gross vehicle mass (ZGM), the number of axles and the intended use.
• small trucks and passenger cars converted to 3,5 t
• Light trucks up to 7,5 t
• Medium Duty Trucks up to 12 t
• Heavy truck as a trailer or semi-trailers up to 40 tons (Intermodal transport to 44 t, but the maximum load of 11.5 t t per axle must be observed)
Since each state has a different law, one has in the European Union Directive 96/53/EC of 25 July 1996 agreed on the following weights and dimensions of trucks for cross-border freight traffic (in national law [in Germany homologation] alternative arrangements can be made for transportation within the country):
Greatest length of 18.75 m with a road train (lorry with trailer)
16.50 m with a articulated vehicle (motor vehicle with a trailer or semitrailer)

Greatest width 2.55 m applies to almost all vehicles

Maximum height 4.00 m

12.00 m Maximum distance between the axis of the fifth wheel kingpin and the rear of a semi trailer
16.40 m from the foremost external point of the loading area behind the cabin to the rearmost external point of the trailer of the combination
15.65 m from the foremost external point of the loading area behind the cabin to the rearmost external point of the trailer of the combination, minus the distance between the rear of the vehicle and the front of the trailer (usable cargo area)

Maximum allowable weight 18.00 t-axle trailer

Truck freight - which is transported?
The question can easily start: it will all be transported by road, which from A to B must. There is probably nothing that can not be driven back and forth. It may be small items, such as Buttons, paper clips u.s.w. be, but also very large components such as the individual parts of a wind turbine. Not infrequently one sees on the highways and trucks transporting the car and as we all know, even the nuclear waste is transported by trucks on our roads and highways.
In the daily traffic it is in the main to
• Basic food
• Fresh fruit and vegetables
• Flowers and Plants
• packets, parcels and mail
• print products
• Live animals
Of course, producers and distributors take the truck freight claim, for example,
• Textiles
• Building Materials
• raw materials for industry
• and much more Other
driven on the German and international road routes.
Often the cargo truck is used in combination with sea, rail and air freight. The goods can only rarely directly by train or plane to the destination / delivered to the receiver. The truck is then available at the appropriate places, such as Ports, airports and rail yards ready to take over and bring the freight to the destination.

General cargo - Definition
All the above mentioned goods and products and not be transported as cargo. In all of the articles are referred to logistics, which may be transported in one piece, for example, filled boxes, pallets - either the goods are directly on it or are packaged in individual cartons, machinery or plant parts, cables, paper or metal rollers and drums. In short, piece goods, everything is driven and delivered between sender and receiver in the door-to-door transport. From a weight of 50 kg, under the weight of a courier service for the carriage of the goods out of the question, up to 2500 kg, with respect to the permissible payload of the truck. There is also much heavier shipments, must be used for the then correspondingly larger truck. When the weight is not only about the weight of the goods, including the packaging and pallets must necessarily be expected to do so. There are goods that are in weight quite easily, but through cartons and pallets (usually made of wood) that were specific weight multiply (eg springs or packaging).

Groupage - Definition
Grouped as the summary of the same or different cargo unit (English: packing unit) referred to a piece. As a delivery to a recipient often consists of more than one piece, several pieces are summarized as Kollo (plural Kolli). Practically several pieces are packed in a packaging unit together. For example, small cartons are packed with goods in a large cardboard box so you get a Kollo (English. trading unit) or multiple colli. From the individual small packages is a great package that is then easier to handle and to transport than the individual small packages.

Truck freight - freight contract
The freight contract in Germany is a type of commercial contract law, legally speaking, it falls under the Transportation Law. The carrier agrees to transport a shipment accepted for consideration (= freight) to the receiver named by the customer. It is a consensual contract concluded, that is, a matching declaration of intent - Offer of the carrier and the shipper assumption is sufficient. It requires no specific form (form required), can therefore be concluded verbally or by telephone. An exhibition of duty for a bill of lading does not exist, it is required by the carrier, it is necessary. In general, there is every truck freight and the associated bill of lading.

Consignment note
The most important document accompanying the goods, the consignment note (English: waybill), it is created in 3 copies. He is the transport document for the contract of carriage, the carrier has it and identifies him as the owner of the goods. A copy of the bill of lading, the shipper, the second copy, the recipient, which identifies him at the same time as the owner of the goods. Be issued the documents of the consignor of the goods. In Germany the following information on the waybill usually present (but legally do not have to be):
• Place and date of issue
• Name and address of the sender
• Name and address of the carrier
• Name and address of the consignee
• place and date of taking over of the goods
• Description and Weight
• Type of packaging
• Number, Marks and numbers of packages (package)

Functions of the bill of lading
The bill of lading, also accompanying document serves as an information and instruction paper. The sender informs the carrier, forwarder, storer and the receiver on the type and quantity of cargo, the transport distance and possibly important information about the transport and delivery. For this reason, getting a copy of the consignment note to the goods or in the hands of the carrier. The bill has proof function, signed by the shipper and the carrier waybill documents the conclusion of the contract of carriage. The carrier confirmed the proper acquisition of goods for quantity and undamaged packaging. According to the information he can during recharging. Waybill not check, he can make a note on the paper. The review is important because the carrier is usually liable for lost goods. So he acts in his own interest and should be the gem before the trip complete. Waybill have tested so there are no nasty surprises when unloading. Most can be the delivery person delivering the goods on the consignment note from the receiver acknowledge, that he has a proof of delivery for subsequent invoicing.

Truck freight costs
The calculation of the freight consists of several items that play a role include:
• Distance
• Weight
• Fuel Surcharge
• Tolls
• Insurance
With the weight of a distinction between
• Gross weight
• Weight
the mathematically higher weight is placed on the approach.

Truck toll
Since 01 January 2005 in Germany there is the toll truck, a distance-based road user charge for federal highways and heavily used by truck traffic roads. It only applies to commercial motor vehicles used and the commercial haulage, heavy duty vehicles, with at least 12 tonnes. The calculation is based on the toll route on distance covered above Roads, according to the number of axes and, depending on different vehicle, emission class.

Truck tolls - how does it work?
In Germany, the levy of toll on a GPS system works. The German agents have two ways to participate in this system. Either they have the so-called OBU (on-board unit) installed in their vehicles, which they are automatically logged into the network while driving or book yourself manually at toll plazas terminals via Internet, Toll Collect 'and enter your data. For foreign carriers to manually track booking is provided.
Toll - does not apply to all
Excluded from the scheme include
• Buses and coaches
• Vehicles of the police, army, fire brigade, civil protection and disaster and the federal government
• Vehicles for the transport of humanitarian aid
• Vehicles of fairground and the circus industry, which solely serve the purpose of commercial

Toll roads in Germany
The toll was originally to be levied only on the motorways. As fast high-traffic detours have been crystallized, however, the toll was introduced for parts of routes from major roads. Thus, the main road is a toll road, a number of criteria must be met. Currently there are sections of the B4, B 9 and B 75, but leave more and more cities and municipal examine whether their 'toll road can be. It is about noise and emission protection, so the well-being of residents and non-motorized road users.

Truck Freight - Your decision
A distinction is to remove the back to haul legend
• transport - within a radius of 50 km around the envelope bearing
• Regional traffic - the range of 51 to 150 km traveling distance
• long distance - all are 151 km of roads
Based on the distances can see that hardly any other means of transport out of the question itself. Air freight e.g. Although from Hamburg to Munich would be faster, but in relation also much more expensive. If you want his goods e.g. freight to the USA, it will not be possible exclusively by truck. But this one has the choice between sea freight and air freight. It's all a question of money and time. Certainly, one has little choice when it e.g. to opt for the faster version comes to live animals or fresh food, but the transport costs are also always given pro rata to the consignee, consumers and consumers on. It is their decision how they ship their products, goods and commodities.
