Air freight - it could not be faster!

The transport of goods or goods by air has become known truly only in 1960, previously was not in use this transportation option. Of course, quite apart from military action. The fact that now even very large airplanes are built, it is possible even to transport large and heavy items. When one thinks of the aircraft named "Guppy" only once, it is clear what can be sent for great goods by air freight. Aircraft, whose fuselage is considerably increased, it is called in professional circles "Guppy".

Normally, the Guppy is a fish. These aircraft fuselage with developed were named after the fish, because guppies have a very bloated stomach when they are pregnant. These fish are viviparous. Through the conversion of aircraft, it was possible to transport of bulky, very large and heavy goods that you did not get placed in normal aircraft. Through this kind of conversion of the aircraft, ie the "guppies", an almost revolutionary advancement in air cargo has been reached. The Boeing B-377 Stratocruiser is the best known example of such a reconstruction plane. NASA gave the order at that time, as more and more rocket parts were built and they had to be transported from one place to another.

The freighter has won in the last over 40 years of growth, as is rapid transport of cargo by air.

Advantages of air freight:

• The biggest advantage is certainly the speed. With a plane of course the fastest journey time is reached. This is achieved with no other means of transport.
• Inexpensive because storage costs or waiting periods, if at all by environmental factors, such as storms or heavy snow, minimal.
• Punctuality, as the schedules are adhered to very precisely timed, it can be scheduled in time exactly to the point.
• Security, as this is a very "short" transit. Risks are also here again natural or environmental influences.

Disadvantages of air freight:

• The main difference is probably the emissions to call, ie the emissions of an aircraft. Which are of course much higher and environmentally harmful than other means of transport.
• We can not ship any goods or goods by air freight.
• The cost is higher than for a ground transportation, such as by truck or by sea, since the actual energy consumption of an aircraft is extremely high.
• It must be generally available to transport the goods and deliver on target two cargo airports. If the cargo airports are too far away from the starting point or destination, thus increasing again the cost because the goods to or from the airport cargo must be transported to reach the ultimate goal.
• Usually two additional handling operations are required, which as already mentioned above, the goods have to be transported between quasi.
• Air freight should only be selected if it is a long distance. For short distances of transport by truck is faster and cheaper.

What goods should they be promoted more by air?

• Animals
• Flowers
• Exotic fruits and vegetables
• Airmail
• Important documents
• aid in the event of a disaster
• Certain Textiles
• Human organs for transplant

Especially with organs that were released for transplantation, every second counts. Also, in many cases, so that the donor living in a different country than the patient in need of the body. Organs can only be used a certain time, so you will always be transported by air. In animals, this transport goes too sure of himself vegetables and fruit is perishable and must be transported quickly. Even high-quality goods are usually transported by air, since the security is a top priority.

Legal basis for air cargo:

As for all transport options are needed legal basis for air transport. There is a so-called agreement (contract), so that the aircraft may fly over the different countries unimpeded. Specially the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) was founded. All states operate the air traffic, are members of ICAO. Of this organization, the English language has been selected as a general "aviation language". The ICAO regulates the international traffic rights, which include the "freedoms of the air" are.

It also speaks of the "seven freedoms of Aviation":

• The right to a particular country with which an agreement is concluded without flying over to land.
• The right cargo, airmail or people that have been recorded in the country to carry.
• The right to landings to refill fuel to make any repairs or for a change of staff, ie non-commercial landings.
• The right to include passengers of the country in order to carry in their own country of origin of the plane. This is called "neighborhood traffic."
• The law also persons, cargo or mail to and from a third country to carry. But this means that the flight must begin in the home country and end.
• The right to include people from the country, but also fly to a third country, but without that the plane takes off and lands from their own country.
• The right to operate also between countries traffic, without any connection to the home country. That there probably are not that common.

Furthermore, there is a quasi 8 Freedom: the "cabotage". This law allows persons, property and mail between at least two, but also to transport more airports in a territory of a foreign state. As territory is referred to the way the air space above a specific country.

Air freight in general:

To be able to comply with the dates specified freight, air freight, you need a supplier with the best high performance offerings. Many of these providers allow already today a door-to-door service. This service includes transportation of cargo directly from the supplier to the airport, the aircraft loading, unloading at the destination airport, for example, in a truck, and from there directly to the receiver. The advantage of such an air freight provider is that not several logistics companies are involved, but the whole process is handled by a provider, monitored and completed. This ensures a secure and safe transport of goods, goods, documents, animals, food or whatever have been transported for goods.

For proper air cargo transport certain shipping documents are required. And the customs and its processing plays a major role, as with all other transportation options that take place across countries, too. Since these papers in air freight traffic must be uniform and to our own abbreviations must be understood internationally, international airlines have merged to IATA. IATA has first ensured that even the clearance procedures were standardized to simplify the whole process worldwide. An important component in the air cargo air freight is of course the treaty, which was regulated by law.

Air freight contract:

This Agreement is the agreement of cross-border freight transport. He is like any other contract of carriage, a work contract that legally requires no prescribed form and thus orally concluded contracts are legally effective. Works contracts are usually for construction, repair and the various craft activities, but also for transport services, such as transport of goods and goods by air. In a contract for the production of a work is the contractually agreed performance, ie achieving the objective set. In legal terms, the concept of work includes both tangible and intangible property and services rendered and their successful implementation.

Framework for the handling of air cargo:

On 29/04/2010, Commission Regulation (EU) No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2008 entered into force. Here, the framework is called, has to take place as the air-freight companies in civil aviation. Air freight may only be 'safe' shipped in the appropriate aircraft and flown to the destination in general. Producers have to reach the current security status for air freight their goods in two ways:

1 Carriers, usually airlines, especially cargo airlines (english Cargo Carrier), or regulated agents (carriers, agencies and carriers, which ensure the security controls for cargo or mail) check the goods and goods subject to legal requirements and make them by certain '. These security controls are established on the basis of the goods to be transported and their texture. But beware, do you plan for this expense of time and money, this performance is usually billed.

2 Producers of goods and commodities have the opportunity to be approved by the LBA (Luftfahrt Bundesamt) as 'known consignor'. Is to be recognized as, a known consignor 'before, eliminating the costly control of loading, and the goods will immediately' safe 'classified and transferred. The 'known consignor' guaranteed personal responsibility that air cargo is to be identified (based on the accompanying documents), and the production or storage of waste and / or onward travel from the access and manipulation by unauthorized third parties is safe.

Cargo airlines:

English: cargo carriers are airlines that have, with specialized built for the transportation of goods and freight cargo aircraft to the air cargo on scheduled and charter flights. In recent years, growth rates were achieved, which are due to the globalization of markets. For example, have known transport courier companies such as Federal Express, DHL or UPS fleets of more than 600 aircraft in service. Airlines that operate in passenger transport have, so the 400 planes in the air. However, there are also examples of the distribution of tasks. Singapore Airlines Cargo airline as a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines transported the cargo not only with cargo aircraft, but also as additional cargo on passenger flights. Because many of the airliners also offer a limited cargo capacity. Another variant of the link has selected Lufthansa, it offers through its 100 -% subsidiary of Lufthansa Cargo also the transportation by air of.

Air cargo containers:

Unit Load Devices (ULD short) are pallets and containers. Use of this ULD has greatly facilitated the shipment of mail, baggage and cargo by packing up to large units. It saves time and money and, as in many cases, also staff. There are 2 types of ULD:

1 ULD pallets are aluminum sheet panels with a profile substructure and edges, where the eyelets snap cargo nets
2 ULD containers - closed container made of sheet aluminum or a combination of aluminum and plastic. Depending on the type of product, these containers are also available with built-in cooling unit. Inside the container there are loops to secure heavy cargo or dangerous goods.

ULD containers and pallets are available in different sizes with different load capacity. The reason is that not all cargo aircraft worldwide are of the same type vary in size and offer different container and pallet capacity.
Container is not the same container - and it refrigerated containers, clothes container, small and large, with door and no door and there are of course also stables for up to 3 horses. Not only goods of daily use are flown through the world, nay, even our four-legged friends can fly.

Airports by cargo traffic:

The ranking of airports by cargo traffic results from the in metric ton (t) is given weight. Which airport was within a year, here in 2011, carries the most weight, air cargo? Both the loading at the departure airport and the unloading at the destination airport is one for the transport of air cargo.

1 Hong Kong International Airport, China, 3.97 million tons
2 Memphis International Airport, United States with 3.92 million tons
3 Shanghai Pudong International Airport, China, 3.10 million tons
4 Anchorage International Airport, USA, 2.63 million tons
5 Gukje Gongshang Incheon, South Korea, 2.54 million tons
6 Dubai International Airport, United Arab Emirates, 2.27 million tons
7 Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 2.22 million tons

After publication of the Airports Council International (Association of internally airports)

Largest cargo airport in Germany - Rhein-Main Airport Frankfurt am Main:

The story began in 1912 in Frankfurt-frame home in the airship port on the vine, to the west of the site of the first international air shipping exhibition in 1909. Later renamed the Frankfurt-Rebstock airport, this was intended for airships, started after a short time and also airplanes landed there. In June 1912, the ship was carrying air LZ10 Schwaben and the double-decker yellow dog from there the first airmail service in Germany. The very early beginnings of air freight were born. The pioneers of yesteryear have certainly imagined times in their wildest dreams, as it would develop the aviation and air cargo in the next 100 years. And then they even begin guessed that today's proportions - they would have been declared insane. In 1926, the German Luft Hansa AG was founded with home airport Frankfurt am Main, Germany with her began in the recovery of civil aviation. After the end of the Nazi regime, the Fluggesellschafft was liquidated. In 1953, the "joint-stock company for air traffic demand" (LUFTAG) was founded. 1954 LUFTAG was renamed German Lufthansa AG. In the former GDR also an airline was founded with the name of German Lufthansa AG (July 1955), but the two companies had nothing to do with each other.

Development of air cargo traffic at Frankfurt Airport:

1 936 800 tonnes
1937 966 tons
1960 46.910 tons
1968 229.896 tons
2010 2.231.348 tons

    small airlines

There were lots of small plane owners who wanted to part of the air cargo industry but were not accepted. The big airlines didn't like smaller airlines to operate in the business. One reason for that was the possibility that the small airlines might screw up the constant status of the industry. Another reason was the former didn't want to be involved in a competition.
